Right from the word go, you’ll be learning from lawyers who are recognised as leading experts in their specialist areas.
As part of a smaller trainee intake than most of our competitors, you’ll find you will not get lost in the crowd: training becomes more like personal coaching. It’s like being in a very small class in a very good school.
You’ll also find a refreshing lack of hierarchy at Travers Smith. Sitting in a room with a partner and an assistant, you’ll hear them dealing with clients on the phone and speaking with other lawyers – so you’ll quickly pick up the basic skills – and you’ll be able to ask questions freely.
During your two years’ training, you’ll spend six months in Corporate, Real Estate/Finance, Dispute Resolution/Employment and one of our other specialist departments. You might also get the chance to spend six months in our Paris office.
Throughout your training, there will be workshops to underpin all the practical experience. These will look at real transactions, case law and precedents. You’ll also go to the regular seminars organised by each of the departments designed to keep the team updated on all the latest developments in their areas.
