Distinguished Service Award for Travers Smith Head of Financial Services and Markets
Travers Smith is delighted to announce that Margaret Chamberlain, Head of the Financial Services and Markets Department, has been awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the City of London Solicitors´ Company (the "Company") in recognition of her outstanding work as Chair of the City of London Law Society Regulatory Law Committee over the past ten years.
Every year since 1985, the Company has presented the Distinguished Service Award to a single candidate, who has rendered exceptional service to the Company and/or to the City of London Law Society during the previous year or over an earlier or longer period. The recipient is chosen by the Master of the Company and the Chairman of the Society and approved by the Court of the Company.
The Regulatory Law Committee is comprised of partners from a wide range of City law firms, who specialise in this area. It is actively involved in reviewing and commenting on proposed laws and regulatory rules affecting financial services firms and the financial markets, and also proactively raises issues with the relevant authorities. Due to the increasing volume of regulation, both UK and European, the Regulatory Law Committee has been one of the Company´s most active committees, engaging on hundreds of topics over the past ten years under Margaret´s chairmanship.
On receiving the award, Margaret commented, "It is a real honour to chair this distinguished Committee. I am very grateful to my colleagues in other firms, who give freely of their time and expertise to make the Committee a success. There is a vast amount of regulatory change proposed so the Committee will continue to be very busy. "
Andrew Lilley, the Managing Partner of Travers Smith said: "We are delighted that Margaret has been honoured in this way, a further recognition of our market leading financial services and markets practice."
