Travers Smith has a strong reputation for effective dispute resolution, especially in the banking and financial markets sectors.
We have considerable experience of national, international and cross-border litigation, arbitration, alternative dispute resolution. We are adept at handling the most difficult and challenging commercial cases.
As well as handling disputes in the areas of banking, pension fund management and financial services, we also represent clients in disputes covering many other commercial sectors, including fraud, corporate insolvency and asset tracing, M&A, shareholder disputes, professional negligence, insurance, administrative and public law, intellectual property and real property. We have also developed a pre-eminent reputation for handling regulatory investigations and enforcement cases. We have been involved in some of the most important cases of the day, which has given us in-depth experience of many extraordinarily complex legal problems and of devising innovative and commercial solutions to them.
Most of our clients are corporations, banks, professionals or institutions. Something in the region of 50% of our work over recent years has had an international dimension, usually acting for an overseas client litigating or seeking evidence in England, but increasingly acting for British businesses embroiled in disputes in the US or western Europe, where we have the role of selecting and instructing a foreign law firm, managing the litigation effort and/or acting as a conduit for information and instructions.
Our philosophy is simple. We establish at the outset what it is that our clients want to achieve and then concentrate our energy, expertise and experience in attaining their objectives as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible.
“Sophisticated, focussed and creative, the lawyers... are tenacious and imaginative and have a great business sense.”
