We have recently acted for the following:

  • Tussauds and now Merlin in defending the high profile noise nuisance proceedings relating to various noise sources at the Alton Towers theme park, including mechanical noise and screaming from the "Oblivion" ride and the annual fireworks displays
  • Northern Ireland Local Government Officers' Superannuation Committee in relation to a leisure centre in Bournemouth. Work included a dispute against a tenant and its guarantors for non-payment of service charges amounting to £1.5m and removing tenants from the property prior to its sale
  • Pinewood and Shepperton plc in various aspects of their ongoing development at Pinewood Studios including defending a claim that the development land should be registered as a town or village green
  • London Underground Limited in relation to a dispute over rights to light at land adjoining Hammersmith Station
  • Camden Ventures Limited, the claimant in a breach of contract action concerning an agreement to develop land which was conditional on obtaining a satisfactory planning consent
  • The Haberdashers Company in an application to the Lands Tribunal for modification of a restrictive covenant on a site in New Cross, London
  • Mountgrange (Maidstone) Limited in a claim for misrepresentation made by the seller of a development site who claimed the site was free from contamination or infestation when it was in fact infested with Japanese knotweed
  • Multi-Development UK Limited in various disputes relating to the development of the £320m retail, leisure and residential development at Victoria Square in Belfast, including defending a claim by a tenant to be entitled to specific performance of an agreement for lease and claims by tenants in relation to purported failures by the landlord and developer to complete the development in accordance with agreements for lease
  • The owner of Bath RFC in a dispute concerning shooting and other rights over land purchased to provide the club with new training facilities
