We know that the trainees we recruit this year will be a key part of the success of our firm in the future, so we dedicate a considerable amount of time to making sure we choose the right people. After all, we’re going to be spending a lot of time in each other’s company.
A law degree is not a necessity — over half the trainees who joined last year came from a non-law background — but you will need to have shone academically in your chosen area of study. We look for people who combine academic excellence with plain common sense; those who are determined, articulate and able to think on their feet; who are self-motivated and have a healthy sense of humour.
If you are selected for an interview for a vacation scheme you will only need to attend one interview which will be held at either our London office or at your university. The training contract is a two stage process. Your first interview will be with a graduate recruitment partner who will be aiming to find out more about you. If you are selected to attend a second interview this will be held with two partners at our London office. Following your interview, a trainee will give you a tour of our offices, which gives you the chance to meet more partners, associates, trainees and other members of the firm.
