Work examples

  • Acting for a major financial institution to redesign its defined benefit schemes around a ground breaking "selectable accrual" principle.
  • Advising the Gatwick Airport Pension Plan on the introduction of a variable rate for future accrual, designed to ensure employer contributions do not fluctuate.
  • Advising numerous employers on the closure of their defined benefit schemes.
  • Strategic advice to several large US corporations on their UK defined benefit pension arrangements and associated HR, ER and legal issues.
  • Advising the TRW Pension Scheme on its £3.5billion liability management exercise which was completed to a very tight deadline and with lots of innovative features, including a record breaking £2.5billion buy out with Legal & General.
  • Advising a range of employers on auto-enrolment and re-enrolment compliance and associated matters including salary sacrifice, pension arrangements for senior executives, and dealing with lifetime allowance protections.
