Jamie is a partner in the Finance Group, specialising in real estate finance, fund finance, speciality finance and other financial institutions, general corporate lending, and acting for financial institutions, private equity sponsors, investors, and borrowers. He completed a secondment at the Royal Bank of Scotland in 2016.
Real estate finance
Jamie advises on all aspects of real estate debt financing, including investment finance, development finance, refinancings, and restructurings at all levels of the capital structure. Jamie's experience spans asset classes including healthcare, student accommodation, serviced offices, retail parks, self-storage, research buildings, and multi-unit residential development.
Jamie advises on the full spectrum of products in the fund finance space, in particular investor call bridge/subscription facilities, NAV and hybrid facilities, GP support/co-invest facilities, and equity commitment-backed facilities to funds, GPs, managers and investors across a range of asset classes.
Jamie advises on complex and highly structured transactions in the speciality finance space, including traditional borrowing base facilities, warehouse structures for SPV assetcos, forward flow agreements and 100% advance rates, loan portfolio sales, servicing arrangements, and account bank arrangements. Jamie has experience across a range of sectors, including mortgage-backed lending (first, second, bridging, buy-to-let, commercial, development, equity release), SME lending, asset finance, auto loans, unsecured consumer lending, debt purchase, non-performing loans, debt collection, and payment services.
Jamie has participated in panel sessions at the Virtual Fund Finance Symposium 2020, discussing the increasing overlap between private equity and real estate strategies by asset managers, as well as at the European Fund Finance Symposium 2018, discussing the increasing role of non-bank financing in the fund finance space. He is the lead author of the chapter "COVID-19 and other developments: Proof of concept for newer liquidity solutions for alternative asset managers?", featured in Global Legal Insights' Fund Finance 2021.
