Katie is a senior associate in the Finance Group, specialising in fund finance, acquisition finance, speciality finance and general corporate lending acting for banks and non-bank lenders, private equity sponsors, investors and borrowers.

Having joined the firm as a trainee in 2010, Katie is described as a "rapidly rising star" in The Legal 500 UK 2018 rankings.

Fund finance

Katie acts for lenders and borrowers in the fund finance space on the full range of fund level subscription, NAV, hybrid, secondaries, GP/co-invest and management fee facilities. Katie's list of lender clients in this space covers a large number of the most active players, including Investec Bank plc, The Royal Bank of Scotland International Limited, Wells Fargo, Silicon Valley Bank, Lloyds, SMBC and Santander, with recent borrower clients including Pemberton, Equistone and Hermes GPE. Katie regularly advises on some of the most highly structured and complex facilities across the spectrum of fund finance products available in the market. 

Acquisition finance

Katie acts primarily for lenders in the acquisition finance market and has extensive experience advising on all aspects of the financing of large private equity-led acquisitions, refinancings, restructurings and dividend recaps. Katie regularly advises Silicon Valley Bank, HSBC, Natwest, Lloyds and Shawbrook Bank Limited in this space. 

Speciality finance

Katie has expertise advising lenders and borrowers on a range of products in the speciality finance space, including traditional borrowing base facilities, warehousing and non-public securitisation structures, loan portfolio sales, forward flow arrangements, and servicing agreements. Katie advises on transactions spanning the full range of sectors, including mortgage-backed lending (first and second charge lending, buy-to-let, bridging, commercial, and development lending), SME loans, auto financing, unsecured consumer lending, asset financing, payment services and non-performing loans (NPLs).

Katie acts for some of the most active non-bank lenders, clearers and challenger banks in this space as well as private equity sponsors investing in these sectors, finance companies and other corporate borrowers, servicers and originators, including LendInvest and MSP Capital. 

Industry recognition

Katie was a panellist on the "NAV and Hybrid Facilities" panel session at the Global Fund Finance Symposium 2019, discussing the range and proliferation of these facilities in the modern fund finance market. Katie also spent 10 months on secondment to the Fund Finance team at Investec Bank plc in 2015.

Katie co-authored "Cash Confirmations - Treating Conditionality with Caution", an in-practice feature for the July/August 2019 edition of the Butterworths Journal of International Banking & Financial Law.
