Nikhil is a Senior Associate in the Funds Department.
Prior to joining Travers Smith, he spent a number of years (including a year on secondment in the Channel Islands) working as a funds lawyer at a specialist asset management-focused law firm. Nikhil specialises in advising on private funds transactions, including the establishment of investment funds across a diverse range of asset classes, secondaries transactions, co-investments, and LP investments into private funds.
Fund formation and investor representations
Nikhil's practice primarily focuses on the formation, structuring and operation of investment funds across all major alternative investment strategies. This also includes GP / fund restructurings, the structuring of complex carried interest and GP commitment arrangements, and ongoing advisory work for fund managers on the operation of their funds.
He also represents institutional investors on their investment programmes across a broad range of sectors and fund types, including private equity, venture capital, credit, real estate, and infrastructure.
Additionally, Nikhil advises on secondaries transactions, involving the (direct or indirect) acquisition or disposal of large portfolios of interests in investment funds, having acted for buyers, sellers, and the managers of such funds.
Lastly, he has significant experience advising both managers and investors on co-investments alongside investment funds, including the establishment of bespoke co-investment structures, and has both co-authored a guide on the subject and presented to industry professionals.
