Shani is a fourth seat trainee solicitor in the Pensions Department.
When I am not at work I am usually practising or performing with my steel band. We play at various festivals, events and weddings throughout the year and travel all over the country to do so. I also enjoy listening to podcasts and audiobooks and endlessly talking about them to anyone who will listen. I am always keen for any recommendations. At weekends I can mostly be found trying out new recipes and socialising with my friends and family.
I decided to apply to Travers Smith because the firm encourages and promotes a healthy balance between fee-earning work, pro-bono initiatives and extra-curricular activities. In practice I have found extra-curricular activities, such as singing in the firm choir, to be a great way to network and socialise within the firm.
I am lucky to have been exposed to varied work in my time here including a public takeover in my Corporate seat, advising asset managers in my Financial Services seat, and drafting Grounds of Resistance and witness statements for Tribunal proceedings in my Employment seat.
