Sonny is a senior associate in our Commercial, IP and Technology Department.
Strategic partnership arrangements, commercial contracts and joint ventures
Sonny has a broad-based commercial practice, advising on complex commercial arrangements, strategic partnership arrangements, outsourcing, joint ventures, licencing and franchising.
He works across a number of sectors, with a particular emphasis on financial services, infrastructure/renewables, leisure and media.
Business separations and migrations
Sonny also specialises in advising on complex business separations and associated transitional and migration arrangements in the context of share sales, asset sales and group reorganisations.
He works closely with client leads to ensure that business divisions are able to obtain the transitional support they require to continue to operate following a transaction, as well as being able to conduct sufficient migration of business critical assets, data and IT infrastructure to be able to stand alone or migrate into a new operating environment.
Sonny trained at Travers Smith and qualified into the Commercial, IP and Technology Department in 2011.
He has spent time on secondment to the in-house legal team of a large media company, to a law firm in Mumbai, India working on international brand franchising partnerships in the retail sector, and has recently returned from a 12 month posting to Travers Smith's Paris office concentrating on complex business separations and associated commercial transactions.
Sonny is referenced as a 'Name to Note' in tier 1 of The Legal 500 Commercial Contracts section 2019. He is recognised as a 'Rising Star' in The Legal 500 2020.
