Tom is a third seat trainee solicitor, currently sitting in the Corporate Department.
After spending my studies reading and writing all hours of the day, I knew I wanted to take those same skills and find a real world application for them. A legal career was the perfect form for this, also feeding my growing interest in the challenges of managing business. Cooking has always been a great hobby, which comes in useful when faced with the prospect of preparing a week's worth of office lunches, and I still squeeze in whatever time I can to read at least a few of the most interesting books being written each year.
Travers Smith appealed to me from the start because it combined ambitiousness with approachability. I've found that to be the case in my time here, as the atmosphere is relaxed and social, while also encouraging hard work, improvement, and operating at the top of your game.
In my first seat I gained first-hand exposure to the Company Voluntary Arrangements being used to save businesses on the UK high street, as well as assisting on general banking transactions. Next, in Funds, I assisted across the entire process of a listed fund Initial Public Offering and a broad variety of corporate work.
