Tom is a partner in the Commercial, IP & Technology Department, which he co-founded and led for 10 years.
Tom has a broad-based commercial practice with particular emphasis on strategic alliances (including joint ventures) and commercial contracts (in particular, outsourcing and other supply agreements, franchise, brewing, agency, sponsorship, marketing and distribution agreements). Tom also heads up our firm-wide Business Support Services Sector Group which focuses primarily on outsourcing work.
He has one of the leading reputations in the UK legal market for advising on complex, high value commercial contracts which are critical to the success of his client businesses. His many years of experience in key sectors including retail, leisure, financial services and business support services have enabled Tom to develop an in-depth and widely acknowledged understanding of the business world and to ensure that he acts as a business adviser with legal skills to his extensive client base.
Tom is a graduate recruitment partner (having been the partner in charge of graduate recruitment for eight years) and leads the firm's India Group.
He is a long-standing member of the Commercial Law Committee of the City of London Law Society. He is also the author of both the UK section of the Chambers Global Practice Guide to Outsourcing for 2019 and the UK chapter of Practical Law's Global Guide to Outsourcing 2018.
Tom is identified as a 'Leading Individual' in the Commercial Contracts and Outsourcing categories in the Chambers legal directory and listed as one of the top 10 lawyers in the UK for his expertise in the Commercial Contracts (including outsourcing) category in The Legal 500.
