Barney Stannard

Director

Barney is a director in our Dispute Resolution team, handling a broad range of commercial disputes.

He has particular experience in competition damages claims and international torts. Prior to his current role, he served as a partner in the team for four years.

Barney has spent time on secondment to the Bank of England and with Chancery Division of the High Court of England & Wales.

Advising an OEM in respect of multiple claims in respect of claims brought following the Commission decision in Trucks.

Advising Renesas Electronics Corporation in relation to a claim for damages brought by Vodafone arising out of the decision of the European Commission in Smart Card Chips.

Acting for a major retailer in claims challenging an exclusive distribution framework

Advising Camellia plc on its defence of international tort claims involving allegations of human rights abuses against a member of its corporate group.

Advising various asset managers in relation to disputes concerning earn-outs, management fees and post-acquisition disputes, including acting for a private equity investor in relation to a claim for fraudulent misrepresentation and breach of warranty arising from its acquisition of an investee company.

Acting for the shareholders and non-executive directors of a bank in relation to claims of breach of duty and misconduct and related counterclaims in connection with the discovery of a high-value fraud.
