Martin is Head of Financial Markets Research in the Financial Services and Markets Department. He originally joined Travers Smith in 2013 and returned in 2025 after spending a number of years working in the financial services industry. As part of the Knowledge Team, he helps to monitor and analyse developments in financial regulation to ensure that the department is able to continue to meet the complex and rapidly evolving needs of clients.
Before re-joining the firm, Martin worked as in-house counsel, advising the private banking and wealth management business of an international banking group on all aspects of regulation. He was previously a lawyer at the UK Financial Conduct Authority, specialising in prudential issues and helping to draft the regulatory framework for the Investment Firm Prudential Regime. He originally qualified as a corporate lawyer and has also worked in the legal education sector.
