Michael is a partner in the Financial Services & Markets Department.

Michael has a broad financial services regulatory practice.  He advises financial markets participants, including some of the world's largest multi-strategy alternative investment managers, on all aspects of law and regulation impacting their businesses, helping them to find effective and pragmatic ways to navigate a complex and ever-changing domestic and international regulatory framework. 

He is a regular contributor to industry trade associations, with a particular focus on issues impacting private equity and credit fund managers. 

He is a member of the firm's LGBT+ Group and is a professional ambassador for the Aspiring Solicitors Network.

Michael joined the firm in 2013 and was promoted to Partner in 2019. 

Work Highlights

Managing significant legal and regulatory change projects relating to MiFID II, Brexit and new regulatory capital rules under IFD/IFR.

As part of an integrated team, the structuring and launch of a number of risk retention-compliant fund structures for US and EU headquartered CLO management houses.

Advising major private equity and credit fund managers on market conduct issues and the application of the EU Market Abuse Regulation.

Advising managers of credit funds and other market participants in the specialty finance space on the impact of the new EU Securitisation Regulation.

UK and EU regulatory issues in the context of major, cross-border fundraises, particularly in relation to structuring and securities marketing issues.

UK licensing issues and coordinating and managing new FCA authorisation projects.
