Travers Smith LLP has announced the appointment of Stephen Whitfield as Head of Competition, with effect from 1 July 2024.
Stephen succeeds Nigel Seay, who has come to the end of his term as Head of Department. Nigel will continue as a partner in the Competition team.
Stephen has a diverse competition practice, having acted for clients on a wide range of significant UK, EU and international merger control cases, UK National Security & Investment Act reviews, cartel investigations and competition law litigation matters. Last year, Stephen was listed as a "commended individual" at the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Europe Awards and was shortlisted for "Partner of the Year" at the British Legal Awards. Stephen is also a member of the firm's Next Generation International Board.
Stephen's expertise covers a broad range of sectors including technology, financial services, infrastructure, utilities, life sciences, construction, sports, media, consumer products and brands.
