Our highlights...
Domestic Abuse Response Alliance places its 300th Case
Milestones continue to be achieved as the Domestic Abuse Response Alliance (DARA), founded by our Partner and Head of Pro Bono, Sam Cottman, recently placed its 300th case. This collaboration brings together 11 leading UK law firms to deliver pro bono, life-changing legal support to domestic abuse survivors from a wide range of backgrounds. With over 350 lawyers now trained in trauma informed and culturally sensitive advocacy, DARA’s growing network is a standout example of the positive impact that comes from working together to tackle barriers to justice.
Travers Smith ranked in Social Mobility Employer Index for the first time
We are very pleased to announce that Travers Smith was ranked 48th in the Social Mobility Employer Index 2025 by the Social Mobility Foundation. This is the first time the firm has entered the index. This recognition reflects our ongoing efforts to widen access to legal careers, such as welcoming our first Solicitor Apprentices, leading award-winning schemes like the TS Thrive Scheme, and collaborating with schools and partners on projects like 'The Next Grand Prix'.
Our new major charity partner - London Wildlife Trust
Looking ahead to the next two years, we are delighted to be partnering with London Wildlife Trust as our major charity partner for 2025–2027. London Wildlife Trust cares for 36 nature reserves throughout London, nurturing biodiversity and fostering community connections with local wild spaces. Over the next two years, we will provide financial, volunteering and fundraising support - a natural extension of our firm-wide commitment to sustainability and social responsibility. We can’t wait to see the positive impact our collaboration will bring!
The launch of our Solicitor Apprenticeship Programme
This September marked the exciting arrival of our first cohort of Solicitor Apprentices, an important step in widening access to the legal profession. Our programme enables aspiring solicitors an alternative route to qualification, where they can gain practical experience of the law whilst studying. With all tuition fees fully covered by the firm, apprentices benefit from support, training, and invaluable practical experience as they work towards qualifying alongside graduate trainees.
Our Responsible Business Report
This year, we are proud to have launched our inaugural Responsible Business Report, reflecting our commitment to being a sustainable and responsible firm for our clients, partners, and local community. The report highlights many achievements, such as reducing food waste in our in-house restaurant, Braithwaite’s, cutting energy consumption, our employee benefits programme, and widening access to legal careers. While we are pleased with our progress, we recognise there is more to be done. The report detailed the actions we have begun taking - including our upcoming move to a highly sustainable office in 2026 - as part of our ongoing journey to operate ethically and reduce our environmental impact.
