Travers Smith advises Ancala on acquisition of Irish telecom tower portfolio

Overview

Travers Smith LLP has advised longstanding client Ancala Partners LLP (Ancala) on the financing and management arrangements for the acquisition of 300 telecom towers across Ireland from Phoenix Tower International (PTI).

The portfolio forms a cornerstone investment for Ancala’s new tower platform, TorLoc Towers. The platform has assumed the existing customer contracts and will continue to serve mobile network operators (MNOs) and other clients, including emergency services, rural broadband providers and private enterprise networks.

Infrastructure Finance Partner Ryan Ayrton said: "It has been fantastic to work with Ancala on the financing for this acquisition, the first it has made in Ireland.  Ancala continues to build on its impressive reputation in the essential infrastructure sector and we are delighted to continue to support them in this space."

The Travers Smith team was led by Infrastructure Finance Partner Ryan Ayrton, with support from Senior Associate Katie Henderson and Associate Arjun Dwesar, with the corporate team led by Infrastructure M&A Partner Jonathan Walters, with support from Senior Associates Fabian McNeilly and Laura Priestley. Specialist advice was provided by Head of Derivatives and Structured Products Jonathan Gilmour, with support from Associate Tom Purkiss

This deal follows our previous work supporting Ancala on its €136.2 million acquisition of aerial emergency services businesses from Babcock International.
