Ollie is a fourth seat trainee solicitor in the Corporate Department.
I grew up in Sussex before heading up to Durham to complete a degree in History. While there I became interested in a career in law, so did a vacation scheme at Travers Smith before starting my training contract in 2018. Outside of work, I'm a reasonably keen (but very much amateur) photographer, trying to get some good pictures on my travels, and like to play football as much as possible (including for the firm). I also enjoy getting out of the city when I can, both home to the countryside and further afield.
I applied to Travers Smith as it promised a relatively small trainee intake with tight-knit teams in which you work closely with associates and partners, providing excellent, hands-on training. This is exactly what I have experienced. The culture is welcoming and supportive, while the work is high-quality and interesting.
I've had a great range of work in my first two seats: Dispute Resolution and Derivatives & Structured Products (DSP). The work is varied, ranging from helping to draft and submit a defence on a case I'd been working on in Disputes to attending a high-profile Company Voluntary Arrangement meeting in DSP.
