Caroline is a partner in the Dispute Resolution Department and a member of the firm's International Board. 

She has been recognised as one of The Lawyer magazine’s Hot 100 lawyers, which lists the profession’s brightest and most innovative lawyers. Her extensive complex litigation experience includes a number of the most high profile competition damages claims in this jurisdiction, cross border fraud claims, complex financial services disputes and related regulatory investigations, tax disputes as well as a wide range of general corporate and commercial disputes.

Caroline represents clients across a variety of sectors, including in the financial services, private equity, manufacturing, retail and natural resources sectors. Her expertise includes litigating cases in the English High Court and other first instance tribunals, including the Competition Appeal Tribunal and the appeal courts, as well as arbitration and mediation.

As a member of the International Board, Caroline is responsible for developing and maintaining the firm’s relationships with our network of preferred firms across the globe. Through this activity, the firm has developed a strong international offering for our clients which enables us to partner with firms who share our high standards of quality and service and who we believe will be best suited to meet the clients’ needs in respect of a particular cross-border matter.

WORK HIGHLIGHTS

Acting for a European truck manufacturer defending multiple damages claims brought before the English courts (both as individual claims and as collective proceedings) arising from the European Commission's decision in relation to Trucks.

Acting for an addressee of the European Commission CRT Glass cartel decision in respect of the successful strike out of a damages claim brought by a monitor supplier.

Acting for a significant international smart card chip producer in a combined follow on and standalone damages claim brought in the High Court relating to the European Commission SmartCard Chips cartel decision.

Acting for Lehman Brothers International (Europe) (in administration) (LBIE) in connection with a number of disputes relating to the close-out of derivatives and other financial contracts following LBIE's entry into administration.

Acting for Investors and counterparties in a number of different cases involving CDOs, derivatives and complex structured products following the financial crisis.

Acting for Pathfinder Minerals Plc in connection with the disputed ownership of its mining licences in Mozambique and of the shares in its local Mozambique subsidiary.

Acting for London Mining plc in relation to a number of contentious matters, including a disputed additional royalty payment in respect of iron ore sales at the Marampa Mine in Sierra Leone and proceedings in Minnesota and England arising from a joint venture for the acquisition and development of an iron ore mine and processing plant in China.

Representing a private equity investor in connection with a substantial claim for breach of warranty and fraudulent misrepresentation/deceit following the acquisition of one of its investee companies.

Acting for a private equity firm in relation to claims made by certain co-investors following the restructuring of their investment in a well-known retail brand.
