Elena is a partner in our Tax Department and leads the firm's asset management tax practice.
Elena is counsel to the full spectrum of alternative private capital managers from global multi-strategy houses to European based start-up teams. She has extensive experience advising them on the wide range of complex tax issues affecting their businesses and products.
Elena advises on all aspects of the structuring and formation of private and semi-liquid retailisation fund structures across the alternative asset classes. She also advises private capital managers on the tax aspects of GP stake transactions and liquidity solutions including GP and LP-led secondary transactions.
On the advisory side, Elena advises on all aspects of private capital house matters with particular expertise in carried interest, co-investment, RSUs and other equity arrangements, partnership tax issues, global mobility and international expansion and tax authority investigations and disputes.
The majority of Elena's work has an international element.
Elena works closely with trade associations – she is a member of UK Private Capital's (formerly the BVCA) Tax Committee, the Alternative Credit Council's Tax Committee, Invest Europe's Tax Committee, and the Income Tax Sub-Committee of the Law Society. She is regularly involved in discussions with HMRC and HM Treasury on the enactment of complex new legislation.
