Head of Employment

Tim is a partner and Head of the Employment Department at Travers Smith.

He has a broad practice covering all areas of UK employment law.  Tim works with clients to provide general advisory support, as well as working on contentious matters giving advice on employment disputes in the High Court and Employment Tribunal.  Tim also advises on all aspects of corporate transactional matters, with particular experience around TUPE and outsourcing.

Tim regularly works with clients in relation to formulating and undertaking internal investigations within their businesses.  These include investigations in relation to whistleblowing and harassment allegations, and involve preparing reports and presenting findings to corporate boards.  He also speaks regularly at seminars on a variety of subjects and provides training to HR teams and management.

Tim is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association, the International Bar Association and the European Employment Lawyers Association.  He is listed as a 'Global Thought Leader' in Who's Who Legal – Labour, Employment & Benefits.

WORK HIGHLIGHTS

Conducting an investigation for the Board of a client on allegations of bullying and fraud within the executive team.

Advising a client on TUPE and a consequent consultation process as an outgoing provider in a second generation outsourcing.

Enforcing post termination restrictions against a departing executive level employee.

Defending a Tribunal claim brought by 15 former employees relating to change of compensation arrangements following a TUPE transfer.

Working with a client in relation to the establishment of a European Works Council.
