Client's challenge
The client, a large banking group, needed to undertake a review of customer account closure arrangements following the fallout from its decision to close the accounts of a prominent individual. Credibility of the investigation was key given the intense public scrutiny. It was therefore necessary to involve a third party independent firm - Travers Smith - to undertake the review.
What TS did to address it
We conducted an extensive yet swift cross-departmental investigation involving: (a) the identification and review of a substantial volume of contemporaneous documents, (b) the review of relevant banking group policies and processes, (c) the consideration of relevant legal and regulatory principles, (d) a large number of witness interviews, and (e) the preparation of confidential and privileged reports setting out our conclusions and recommendations.
Consequent benefits of working with us
Given the scope and complexity of the investigation, it required close collaboration between our Dispute Resolution, Employment, Financial Services & Markets, and Technology & Commercial Transactions teams. By leveraging the firm's comprehensive expertise across these key practice areas, we delivered a seamless and integrated service to the client. the review was carried out sensitively against a backdrop of substantial political interest.
