Sophie is a first seat trainee in our Tax department
Having studied Politics at Durham University, I moved to London in 2023 for the law conversion course (PGDL) and have since fallen in love with the city. When I'm not in the office, I enjoy exploring the best of London's pubs, comedy scene, and coffee shops with friends and family. At the weekends, I love going to the gym, running, cooking, and reading. I am hoping to run my second half-marathon soon!
I am a keen traveller, and before joining Travers Smith as a trainee, I had the opportunity to backpack New Zealand, the Australian East Coast and some of Southeast Asia for five months. This was an incredible experience, with my particular highlights being hiking the mountains surrounding Wanaka and Queenstown, hot air ballooning in Laos, and watching the New Year's fireworks over Sydney Harbour.
I chose to join Travers Smith after completing a Winter Vacation Scheme in 2022, during which I was impressed by the firm’s supportive atmosphere and collaborative culture. I was particularly drawn to the unique room-sharing system, which provides an unparalleled opportunity for trainees to work alongside, and learn directly from, experienced lawyers. These factors confirmed to me that Travers Smith is an exciting and dynamic place to embark upon my legal career.
