Tom is a fourth seat trainee solicitor in the Commercial, IP & Technology Department.
I grew up in Somerset before moving to university and love to make the most of long country walks and trips to the coast when I visit home. In my spare time, I like to make the most of the London theatre scene. I also enjoy playing, and watching, most sports – be that fitting in a round of golf or following the ups and downs (predominantly the latter) of my boyhood club, Torquay United.
Travers Smith appealed to me as it gave me an opportunity to train at a full-service firm, whilst still being a mid-sized firm where trainees are an integral part of the teams they work in. A fantastic vacation scheme confirmed to me that it was an environment in which I would love to work. So far in my training contract, I have sat within our Private Equity and Finance teams, and have just begun my seat in Employment. In Private Equity, I worked on several bolt-on acquisitions undertaken by the portfolio companies of a number of clients, including acquisitions in the US and India. In Finance, I worked on a range of leveraged finance transactions, such as the refinancing of a major high street food chain.
