Travers Smith LLP is pleased to announce that it has signed up as a founding member of the Aspiring Solicitors Foundation, a social mobility charity which provides financial assistance to undergraduates, postgraduates, and graduates, who are seeking a career in the legal profession but lack the funds to pursue it.
A career in the legal profession is often seen as an impossible dream by those from lower socio-economic backgrounds, no matter how strong their drive, dedication, and positivity. Typically, their only route into the profession is through travelling to and attending expensive law events, or by completing work experience placements that may not pay them enough to support everyday life. The Aspiring Solicitors Foundation aims to remove financial barriers that bright, ambitious, and energised young people can face when considering a career in law.
Established by the founder of Aspiring Solicitors, Chris White, the Aspiring Solicitors Foundation will officially launch in January 2020.
Travers Smith CSR Partner Donald Lowe commented: "The work that the Aspiring Solicitors Foundation is doing is vitally important to ensure that everyone, no matter what their background is, has the chance to pursue a career in law and we are proud to be working with them to help make that happen."
The firm already works closely with Aspiring Solicitors and will be hosting the upcoming semi-finals of its Commercial Awareness Competition on Friday 29 November.
