As part of its commitment to greater gender balance and inclusion, Travers Smith LLP is proud to celebrate International Women's Day 2020.
For over a century, International Women's Day has been celebrated on 8 March. Acting as an opportunity to acknowledge the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, the day serves as a reminder that gender inequality persists across the globe.
In support of the IWD 2020 campaign #EachForEqual, people from across Travers Smith have made their pledges to help create a gender equal world. Voiced by representatives from various practice areas and business services departments, these actions range from challenging stereotypes and broadening perceptions, to fighting biases and ensuring women receive the recognition they deserve. You can view their pledges in our video here:
On Thursday 12 March the firm's Gender Balance Group will be hosting a breakfast event alongside Ares Management. Senior Partner Kathleen Russ will be joined by Rakhee Joshi, Counsel at Ares, to participate in a conversation about achieving gender equality, and the role we all must play in driving gender parity.
In addition to this, on Wednesday 4 March, we were pleased to host the Oxford Women in Law: Pacing your career panel discussion. Senior Partner Kathleen Russ joined the panel alongside Professor Judith Freedman, Oxford University, Helen Mountfield QC, Principal of Mansfield College and Barrister at Matrix Chambers, Helen Brown and Julia Hemmings, Partners at Baker McKenzie, and Stephanie Dillon from Reignite Academy to discuss the challenge for women of pacing their career, an issue that remains prominent throughout the legal sector.
