Travers Smith LLP is delighted to have been awarded the 'Tax Adviser' award at The Drawdown Awards for the second year running.
The Drawdown Awards 2026 celebrates achievements for advisers and solution providers supporting European private fund operations during the previous calendar year.
The ‘Tax Adviser’ award recognises the team’s exceptional client service, product innovation and industry leading tax policy work, including the leading role played this year in developing the UK's new carried interest tax rules.
The Travers Smith team stands out as one of the only City law firms with a tax group dedicated to advising private capital managers, with clients covering the full spectrum of private capital managers from global multi-strategy houses to European based emerging managers.
In addition to advising private capital managers on fundraisings, product launches and strategic transactions (including the tax aspects of alternative liquidity solutions such as LP and GP-led secondaries), the team also support institutional investors (including pension schemes, sovereign wealth funds and family offices) on the tax risks associated with their investments into alternative assets, as well as advising private capital managers on the complex tax rules affecting their businesses.
Elena Rowlands, partner, commented:
“We are thrilled to have secured this Drawdown Award for a second consecutive year. Private capital remains at the heart of our business, and this repeat recognition highlights the strength and commitment of our market-leading asset management practice. Our team’s dedication to supporting our clients’ needs continues to set us apart, and we look forward to further contributing to their ongoing success.”
Tom Margesson, partner, commented:
“Winning this award for a second year running reaffirms the market-leading reputation of our private capital tax team and the strength of the firm’s wider asset management platform. I am especially pleased that our industry leading tax policy work, including our contributions to the industry’s response on the taxation of carried interest, have been recognised once again. As I mark my first year as a Travers Smith partner, I am immensely proud to be a part of such a talented and collaborative team whose dedication to client service continues to win industry recognition.”
