Overview

Travers Smith LLP has advised Miniclip (UK) Limited (Miniclip) on its acquisition of Supersonic Software Limited (Supersonic) and its subsidiary Appynation Ltd (Appynation), a leading independent games studio based in Leamington Spa.

Miniclip is an international digital games and entertainment company specialising in the development, publication and distribution of multiplayer mobile games with a global audience in over 195 countries and across six continents.

Founded in 1988, Supersonic specialises in developing and distributing free-to-play mobile games including casual puzzle and crossword games. The studio was also a founding investor in mobile publisher Appynation, and later acquired the remaining shares in the company. The acquisition of Supersonic, Miniclip's fourth UK studio, will enable Miniclip to further develop within the puzzle genre.

The team was led by Head of Corporate M&A and ECM Andrew Gillen, supported by Senior Associate Ben Lowen and Associate Rebecca Pearson. The team also included Head of Commercial, IP & Technology Dan Reavill, Employment Senior Counsel Ailie Murray and Tax Partner Russell Warren.
