Travers Smith celebrates Target Ovarian Cancer's 10th birthday

Overview

This year Travers Smith LLP is delighted to be supporting Target Ovarian Cancer as celebrates its 10th birthday.

As part of its 'It's time to TAKE OVAR' campaign, Target Ovarian Cancer will #TakeOvar the firm's café space on Tuesday 12 June for a drop-in roadshow where staff across the firm can find out more information about ovarian cancer, get free advice on the support the charity provides and discuss its ongoing research into ovarian cancer treatment.

Target Ovarian Cancer supports women with ovarian cancer, works to improve early diagnosis and funds research, focused on developing new targeted treatments and optimising existing treatments, with an emphasis on treatments that will improve overall survival.

UK survival rates are among the lowest in Europe, partly because many women are not diagnosed until a late stage. Over 1,800 women a year die within 12 months of diagnosis. There are symptoms but too often people (and GPs) do not know what the symptoms are.  This is not just an issue for women, men lose their friends and partners, they too have an interest in knowing what the symptoms are.

Travers Smith Consultant, Margaret Chamberlain, is a trustee of Target Ovarian Cancer and works closely with the charity to help raise awareness of its research and the support on offer to those who have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
