Travers Smith success at LexisNexis Legal Awards 2026

Overview

Travers Smith LLP is delighted to have been awarded the 'Knowledge Management Award', and to have been Highly Commended in the 'Halsbury Rule of Law' category, at the LexisNexis Legal Awards 2026.

'The Knowledge Management Award' recognises the Knowledge Management team's outstanding contribution and the innovative projects they have delivered, providing real value to the firm and its clients. This includes Need to Know, our bespoke intranet portal of resources and tools to facilitate cross-practice collaboration and grow client relationships, that is easily accessible and digestible by everyone across the firm; and our AI Academy, a stellar internal training programme for all, designed to embed a deeper understanding of how AI can be used safely to enhance client engagement, increase productivity and boost efficiencies.

Head of Knowledge Management Emily Tearle commented:

"It is an honour for the Knowledge Management team to be recognised at the LexisNexis Legal Awards. In today's fast-changing political and business landscape it is essential for our lawyers to have access to clear, relevant, and timely insights and I am proud that our Need to Know platform delivers that so effectively. Similarly, with AI evolving rapidly, it's great to see how our AI Academy continues to ensure that everyone at the firm has a clear understanding of its safe use and how best to leverage AI in their work."

Our Dispute Resolution team was also highly commended in the 'Halsbury Rule of Law' category, in recognition of their significant and sustained impact in promoting and upholding the rule of law through the pro bono legal support they provide to LGBTQIA+ rights advocacy organisation, Colours Caribbean.

This collaboration has made a meaningful difference in strengthening legal protections for LGBTQIA+ individuals in the Cayman Islands. Most recently, our team played an instrumental role in Colours Caribbean’s successful intervention in a pivotal appeal before the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council (JCPC) arising from a decision of the Cayman Islands Court of Appeal. The JCPC’s judgment in Kattina Anglin v Governor of the Cayman Islands [2025] UKPC 30, handed down on 30 June 2025, marked a significant victory for the LGBTQIA+ community in the Cayman Islands.

Partner and Head of Pro Bono Sam Cottman commented:

"It is fantastic to see the amazing pro bono work of our Disputes Resolution team recognised for our commitment to championing access to justice, equality, and inclusion for all. We are honoured to support Colours Caribbean in its mission to secure and defend meaningful legal protections for LGBTQIA+ individuals across the Caribbean. This recognition belongs not only to our lawyers – Caroline Edwards, James Hulmes, Alfred Fabian and Rebecca Whant in particular - but to the remarkable people at Colours Caribbean whose tireless dedication drives this work forward."

Dr Leonardo J Raznovich (Barrister) shared:

“Travers Smith's work has been pivotal in supporting vulnerable minorities in the region. They have shown unwavering dedication, professionalism, and a deep commitment to the highest standards of advice – recognising the profound impact this work can have in bringing about positive, lasting change for those who are often marginalised and disenfranchised. The firm has demonstrated immense skill in navigating legal complexities and regional sensitivities, ensuring that our strategic advice is both legally astute and contextually informed, aimed at achieving the best possible outcomes.”
