Travers Smith is pleased to announce that its head of tax, Kathleen Russ, has been appointed by the Chancellor to the Board of the Office of Tax Simplification as a non-executive director.
The OTS was established in 2010 to provide advice to the Chancellor on simplifying the UK tax system and was made a permanent, independent office of HM Treasury in July 2015. It is being put on a statutory footing in the Finance Bill 2016.
In addition to Kathleen, the Chancellor also appointed Paul Johnson, Director of the Institute of Fiscal Studies and John Cullinane, Tax Policy Director at the Chartered Institute of Taxation to the board.
Speaking after her appointment, Kathleen commented: "I am delighted to be appointed to the OTS board and look forward to contributing to the important work the OTS undertakes."
