Travers Smith advises Equistone Partners Europe on their investment in the Chartco Group

Overview

Travers Smith LLP has advised longstanding client Equistone Partners Europe ("Equistone") on its acquisition of the ChartCo Group ("ChartCo") from ECI Partners in a transaction valuing ChartCo at £55 million. The investment is Equistone's tenth from its fifth fund, Equistone Partners Europe Fund V.

ChartCo is the world's principal provider of physical and digital navigational data, nautical charts, marine technical publications, nautical compliance data and digital services currently providing such services and data to more than 12,000 vessels globally. ChartCo is headquartered in the United Kingdom with further offices in The Netherlands, Singapore and France and reported revenues of over £40 million in the financial year 2015.

The Travers Smith team was led by Private Equity partner James Renahan and corporate associates David Wall, James Parker and Robert Coward. The team also included members of the Travers Smith Tax, Commercial and Banking teams led by partners Russell Warren, Tom Purton and Andrew Gregson (respectively).
